RatePad ("we", "our", or "the app") is a currency converter widget for Android devices. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we do and do not collect.

Data Collection

We do not collect any personal information.

RatePad does not collect, transmit, or store any personally identifiable information, including but not limited to:

Names
Email addresses
Phone numbers
Location data
Financial information
Device identifiers
Usage analytics

Internet Access

RatePad uses internet access for a single purpose: fetching current exchange rates from the Frankfurter API.

What is sent to the API:

A request for current exchange rates (no personal data)
The currency codes you want to convert (e.g., "USD to EUR")

What is NOT sent:

The amounts you are converting
Your device information
Your location
Any personal identifiers

Local Data Storage

RatePad stores the following data locally on your device only:

Widget settings: Your selected currency pairs, theme preferences, and update frequency
Cached exchange rates: Recent rates to enable offline functionality
Calculator input: The current number you're converting
Last update timestamp: When rates were last refreshed

This data is stored using Android's SharedPreferences and is never transmitted anywhere. It remains on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

Third-Party Services

RatePad uses the following third-party service:

Frankfurter API (https://www.frankfurter.app/)
- Open-source, free exchange rate API
- Provides currency exchange rates from the European Central Bank
- No personal data is sent to this API
- No registration or API key required

Analytics and Tracking

RatePad does not use any analytics, tracking, or advertising services.

We do not use:

Google Analytics
Firebase Analytics
Crash reporting services
Advertising networks
Any other tracking or monitoring tools

Data Sharing

We do not share any data with third parties because we do not collect any data in the first place.

Advertising

RatePad is completely free and does not display any advertisements.

Children's Privacy

RatePad does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is suitable for all ages.

Permissions

RatePad requests the following Android permissions:

INTERNET: Required to fetch exchange rates from Frankfurter API
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: To check if internet is available before attempting updates

These permissions are used solely for their stated purposes and not for tracking or data collection.

Data Security

Since all data is stored locally on your device, your data security depends on your device's security. We recommend keeping your device protected with a lock screen and keeping your Android OS updated.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect any personal data, there is no data to access, modify, or delete on our end. All app data can be cleared by:

Going to Android Settings → Apps → RatePad → Storage → Clear Data
